Please go to this website and search for unclaimed property in your state.  I just remembered this when I saw Gigilani's post. Hey...any way we can save or recoup a few dollars is worth exploring.

http://www.unclaimed.org/

I was just messing around one day several years ago.....and did a search on myself and some of my family members.  Myself, my mom and my aunt all had money just sitting out there unclaimed.  I was able to recoup...over $300 for insurance premiums (from previous auto insurer) that I did know was owed to me.  Apparantly, they had went back and audited their records and realized that they had been overbilling me. Well I had since changed insurers...moved etc... etc... so they reported the money as unclaimed. It took me about 6 weeks to get the money after completing and getting a form notarized BUT hell....$300 is $300 and I would rather have it then to let someone else continue to draw interest on it.  My mom and aunt had money due back from utility companies in other states they lived.  SO...do yourself a favor and check it out. Hell....who knows SOMEBODY might have left you something and you don't even know it!

Good one girl!!   I found out my mom had money with the state a few months ago, from ATT.   So, it's good to always check periodically, as it had only been with the state for six months.   Also check to see if deceased relatives have money as well, as was the case with sil's deceased uncle.

I know right...nothing like a mini jackpot...when you least expect it! I can just imagine all the money sitting out there that might never be claimed....but the state govts don't ever say anything about all that interest and what they are doing with it!
